Meet the Mentors and their Peer Matches

Presenters:

Deborah Dale, CFRE, is a founding partner of Smith & Dale, Philanthropic Consulting, and Chair-Elect of the Women’s Foundation of Southern Arizona. Smith & Dale has helped more than 100 nonprofits raise over $80million… what are YOU waiting for? Deb and her peer match, Emilie Doleshel (Development Officer at Notre Dame ACE Academies), will be speaking about the benefits of The AFP Fundamentals of Fundraising course.

Laura Alexander, MA, CFRE is principal and co-owner of Alexander|Carrillo Consulting LLC, Consultant, Executive Director, Development Director, Program Director, Board member and volunteer. You name it and, over a 24-year career, Laura has worked in just about every non-profit capacity.  Laura and her peer match, Lori Riegel, MJEd, Development Director, Southern Arizona branch of the Arizona’s Children Association, will be speaking about the importance of collaboration in professional development.

Robert Alpaugh, Principal ALPAUGH+Associates has over 30 years of executive experience in the nonprofit sector, including The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Joffrey Ballet and Williamstown Theatre Festival.  His firm specializes in capital campaigns, major gifts, strategic planning and board governance.  Robert and his peer match, Ally Behr, Director of Community Engagement for Make Way for Books, will be speaking about how mentorship works to improve professional development.

Ethan Smith Cox, has been fundraising since 2002, and has raised more than $20,000,000 both professionally and as a volunteer fundraiser. A graduate of the University of Arizona, Cox has called Tucson home for more than 3 decades, and currently serves as the Director of Development for Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation. Ethan and his peer match, Travis Craddock, Advancement Associate and Grants Manager for San Miguel High School, will be speaking about the importance of community collaboration as part of a career in fundraising.

Dana Dawson, CFRE, CNC, brings over 25 years of experience to the field of fund development having served a variety of organizations and causes in the non-profit sector as both a consultant and senior development professional. Dana and his peer match, Lisa Robinson, Director of Development for Tu Nudito, will be speaking about the CFRE and its importance for a career in development.

Kerry Dufour, Chief Development Officer for the YMCA of Southern Arizona, Corporate Office has led and established a “culture of philanthropy” across the association she serves. Board members, volunteers, and staff have witnessed the Ys philanthropic efforts grow significantly during her tenure.  Kerry and her peer match, Kristyn Conner, Director  of Development for Youth on Their Own, will speak about the importance of peer support in career development.

Margie Puerta Edson, CFRE, Senior Director of Development at University of Arizona College of Engineering where she is responsible for securing major philanthropic support for college priorities which include research, scholarships and a $20 Million capital campaign for the Engineering Innovation Building. Margie and her peer match, Harriet Sitter, Assistant Director of Stewardship and Donor Engagement at Eller College of Management, will speak about the importance of continuing education in career development.
