National Philanthropy Day 2018 Honorees

The 2018 National Philanthropy Day event will be held at the Westin La Paloma on Friday November 16, 2018 and we are excited to announce the recipients of this year’s big 6 awards!

  • Outstanding Philanthropists- Louise and Jim Glasser nominated by the Tucson Museum of Art
  • Outstanding Corporate Philanthropist- Casino del Sol nominated by the American Red Cross – Southern Arizona
  • Outstanding Foundation Philanthropist- Community Foundation for Southern Arizona nominated by the Women’s Foundation of Southern Arizona
  • Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser- Page Chancellor Marks nominated by the Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona
  • Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy- Cougar Bellinger nominated by RAA Productions
  • Outstanding Fundraising Executive- Hilary Van Alsburg nominated by Alexander | Carrillo Consulting

Awards selection is completed by a panel of independent judges.  Judges are nominated by the National Philanthropy Day committee members and selected based on their professional experience, representing a diverse group of community members.  All judges are provided a rubric to score potential awardees.   Judges review all nominations forms and have a set period of time to review and scores the nominees based on the provide rubric.   Selection is made at a meeting where judges vote, provide feedback, and officially select the Big Six awards.   No National Philanthropy Day committee members vote for the Big Six awards.   If a judge has a conflict of interest with any of the nominees, they recuse themselves from scoring that entire category.

Kathy Carlisle – Retired IBM Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Affairs Office

Michael Johnson – Community Relations Representative at Arizona Complete Health (formerly Cenpatico) 

Dr.  Mary Jo Ghory – Retired pediatric surgeon and past NPD Outstanding Philanthropist Award Winner

Madi Emery – Salpointe High School Student and Unidas Teen Leader

Dawne Bell – CEO of the Women’s Foundation of Southern Arizona
