Grant-Based Relationships that Flourish

If you’ve ever been told to “just go write some proposals,” you know that nonprofits often focus on proposal submission as THE key interaction with grantmakers. Proposals are extraordinarily important to corporate and foundation grantmakers, but they form just one step in an enriching funder/organizational relationship. Jenny Flynn and Kelly Holt of The University of Arizona Foundation GIFT Center have many years of combined experience with private grantmakers and have participated in hundreds of grant-based relationships. Join them for a conversation about what makes grant-based relationships flourish and get some tips and tools that can help pave the way to success.
Jenny Flynn is director of foundation development and the founding director of the Grant Information, Facilitation, and Training (GIFT) Center at The University of Arizona Foundation. The GIFT Center, which supports the charitable grantseeking efforts of The University of Arizona community, won a CASE District VII Gold Medal Award of Excellence in 2007 for best practices in educational fundraising.
Kelly Holt is associate director of foundation development and the GIFT Center and served as a grant writer at Casa de Los Niños prior to coming to university foundation relations work. She is an active member of the American Association of Grant Professionals.
